Christmas Eve is a time of anticipation for our young children...........they are anxiously waiting to see what gifts Santa will bring them. It is often an evening filled with family and tradition and laughter.
One of the best ways to teach our children the true importance of Christmas and to instill in them that our Catholic Faith is the reason we celebrate Christmas is to celebrate together at the Eucharistic Table.
Each year on Christmas Eve our Parish has a Family Mass in the School Auditorium - .................still leaving plenty of time for dinner with family later!
It is here that our children get to take part in a very special PRAYER . There are Costumes and Songs and Smiles................and a blessed Reverence as our children re-enact the Gospel Story and present to us Angels and Shepherds and Wiseman, Innkeepers and the Holy Family.
Children in Grades 2 - 8 are welcome to take part. Those younger will be asked to be song leaders for their families and those older will be asked to help out as Greeters for the Mass.
Rehearsals will be Sunday mornings in December - immediately following the 9:30 Mass.@
WE WILL BE IN THE GYM! If you don't have a part yet, and you would like to join us, please let us know.
Schedule:
Costume distribution: Sunday, December 8 after the 9:30 mass in the basement of the church (10:30-11:30)
Rehearsals: Sunday, December 15 and 22 after 9:30 mass in the auditorium (10:30 – Noon)
We are looking for 3 or 4 Adults who can help out the Family Life Committee this year so we keep the rehearsals and the evening running smoothly.
We MOST DEFINITELY want more children to take part in this prayer --- it is a wonderful experience!
