We’ll pray, sit quietly and sing our Lord’s praises. Let’s be together as one Parish Family as we rest in the Presence of our Lord.
What is Eucharistic Adoration? Do you know what it feels like to run into an old friend and you simply chat for hours catching up on what’s been going on in each of your lives? Have you ever sat with a parent, a child, a friend, or a spouse, and just enjoyed each other’s company – no real words needed, just your presence was enough to convey a feeling of comfort and warmth. Have you ever needed to feel heard? Or maybe you’ve felt overwhelmed with the sheer busy-ness of everyday responsibilities and you just want quiet? All of the above is part of what defines Eucharistic Adoration. Christ may be someone we only think about when we attend Mass, or we go to a wedding, baptism or funeral. When we stop by the church or chapel for Eucharistic Adoration, we get to simply be present with Jesus, and we talk through our hearts about what we’ve been doing. We also get to sit quietly and listen to what Jesus may be saying to us. No outside distractions. Sitting and chatting with Christ, in the form of the Blessed Sacrament, the Eucharist, which is displayed within a Monstrance (a beautiful cross with a sunburst which has the Consecrated Host as its center) is like sitting in comfortable peace with your spouse, friend, parent, child – no words are necessary. Just come, sit, acknowledge the presence of Christ – and feel the comfort and warmth. Sitting in Eucharistic Adoration gives us a much-needed respite from the chaos of our day. Even if it is only for 15 minutes, we can recharge our Faith, reawaken our spirits, and then go forth feeling renewed and closer to Christ. We have nothing to lose, and everything to gain, by taking some time out of our busy day to seek out Christ in the Church and sit quietly in the presence of our Lord. There’s no wrong way to Adore Christ. You might be distracted. You might not know what to say, and maybe you just can’t sit still….that’s okay – Jesus is patiently waiting for YOU. What are YOU waiting for? Will you come spend an hour (or part of an hour) with Him?
